Ruby & Horse thief canyon (fall break)

Fall break was spent with the whole Newton Family! We took the kids (6) the dog (1) the adults (6) to run a stretch of the Colorado River Called Ruby and Horse Thief Canyon. We left about 7 pm thursday night and reached Loma about 11 pm set up our tents on the only 40 feet of BLM owned land which was a road btw. We got a warning by the BLM guy in the morning about no camping. There are no signs that say "NO CAMPING" so we got off without a ticket, thank heavens.
We went down to the put in, which was CRAAAZZY! Where a whole bunch of people were rigging on the tiny shore. I think you can see here in this picture how many boats were being rigged for the trip.
A few of the boaters.

Pauly and his 2 girls.
Elias (aka mud monster.)

We signed up for our camp spot which was Black Rock's # 10. It was awesome! The kids had a fantastic time climbing on all the way cool schist (super cool black metamorphic rock that is billions of years old -as seen in the picture below behind Moose.) and finding pools and playing in the mud.
Camp at Sundown.
We had a yummy dinner of pork tenderloin, baked beans and salad followed by a birthday cake for Max. The days were warm and sunny, the nights a little cool. Nothing a great down bag can't fix;) We saw 2 bald Eagles.

And some really cute boys.

And some really cute babies.
